Read the Case Study regarding Learning on page 25 of the NSDC Standards text handed out in class. In your PLC discuss Discussion Questions 1-3. Have a record keeper in your group synthesize your group's responses to these questions. If your group needed more information, describe what you need to know and how you would go about discovering this information.

1. How well does your school or district address the key ideas outlined in the rationale?
My school addresses different learning styles by providing multiple opportunities for teachers to interact with materials through online presentations, face-to-face meetings, and informal discussions. My school also addresses change in individuals through the Sunshine Committee's bulletin board of teacher successes and sorrows.

2. Michael Fullan writes about the "implementation dip" when things get worse before they get better. How does this idea relate to your experiences with change? How does knowing about it assist with your work with adults?
In my experience, Step2Achieve (Fulton Counties new evaluation system) has been faced with negative attitudes because teachers feel their teaching practices are being challenged. However, the teachers are starting to warm-up to the idea because they see they are not being attacked but are trying to be helped and supported. By knowing about the implementation dip, it helps to know that adults need to work through change on their pace and with support and a listening they will successfully rise.

3. How does the school or district accommodate different needs among educators?
In my district, they accommodate the different needs among educators by giving us personal days that we can use at our discretion, except for a few black out dates.
